AAD (Art A Day Project): Week 4

Oh, week 4. You started out so interesting and then just fell apart.

I met with an artist friend of mine early on in the week, and I got to see some of his artwork which was truly amazing (shout out to Doug Shafer. His work is awesome!- http://www.doug-shafer.com/art/)

He’s added Calligraphy to some of his work and I was looking at some of my Grandfather’s books from when he was a kid (really REALLY non-PC kid’s stories and history books, which are freaking hilarious to read now). So this week was inspired by words and illustration.

My life is getting more hectic with new and exciting art projects, but my will is still strong. So here ya go, week 4:

("Alligator". Friday 10/11/13. Start- 4:01 pm. End- 7:24 pm. Sharpie. Props to Sigil for the idea!)

("Owl" Saturday 10/12/13. Start- 11:55 am. End- 4:45 pm. Sharpie. Props to Laurie and Michelle. I kind of combined parts of your ideas. Also ignore the purple marks up at the top. I got overzealous with the Alligator picture and colored onto the next day's page.)

("Wolf". Sunday 10/13/13. Start- 6:00 pm. End- 10:26 pm. Sharpie. I started out this week thinking I was going to be drawing animals all week I guess.)

("Today was my day off, so I didn't freaking care all that much." Thursday 10/17/13. Start- 12:30 pm. End- 2:20 pm. Pencil. Based on the Grateful Dead song "Jack-A-Roe", lyrics by them of course, no copyright infringement intended.)

So, as an aside, I just have to say that this week it got very hard to concentrate on my drawings. Usually I listen to people critiquing or playing video games to help me work (don’t ask me why; I don’t understand my motivations fully). But I discovered Game Grumps this week and I was laughing so much I could barely draw. Lesson learned. I get to watch videos AFTER I finish drawing, not during, or else nothing gets done.

See y’all next week.
