AAD (Art a Day Project): Week 20

Twenty weeks down, thirty two more weeks to go…

This week I discovered the work of Aubrey Beardsley, who I highly recommend you look up. I absolutely adore his style, my favorite piece being his portrayal of Ali Baba.

That being said, this week’s drawings have a definite Art deco inspiration.

AAD (Art a Day Project): Week 3

Alright, week three! I had a lot of inspiration this week and I have to give credit where credit is due. I was listening to a lot of Led Zeppelin this week and got to thinking about their awesome album art and posters. That, and a prompt from one of my friends, inspired me to draw the four seasons personified. I didn’t mean to have a theme, it just sort of happened that way as the week progressed.

This is the first week I carried my drawing pad around with me, as this was a busier week and I had to hurry up and draw whenever I could find time. I ended up drawing on the bus a lot, which made me let go of any mistakes I made (public transportation isn’t the smoothest of rides). I almost want to keep track of where I’m drawing things now, as each picture has an interesting story behind it (besides the people who inspired them).

So here’s to week three. I actually like most of what I did this week, unlike last week. Check it out, and as always, feel free to give me suggestions if there’s something you’d like to see me draw.

("Evolution- We did it wrong". This is actually a rehash of something I've already done. I just wanted to try a block style thing. Friday, 10/4/13. Start- 4:36 pm. End- 5:44 pm. Sharpie.)

("A Tree?" I honestly don't know what this is, but I don't like it. A failed experiment. Saturday, 10/5/13. Start- 6:10 pm. End- 8:02 pm. Colored Pencil and Sharpie.)

("Winter" Totally inspired by Alphonse Mucha and Led Zeppelin. Thanks to Jen for the idea of drawing the four seasons! The color is ok, but I liked it better when it was just black and white. Sunday, 10/6/13. Start- 10:30 am. End- 6:18 pm. Colored pencil and Sharpie.)
